Curandera Ensemble (folk)

Lily Guarneros Maase y Curandera Ensemble

New excavations of old myths for chamber rock ensemble and nonbinary voice.

Introducing Curandera, a collection of musical and vocal landscapes that tell the tale of the occupied desert known in current times as rural New Mexico, as seen through the eyes of a nonbinary composer whose work and creative energy are drawn directly from land where they were born.

The ensemble appears on blood::face and teeth::bones, two multi-genre ‘mixtapes’ of Lily Maase’s original work released as part of Infrequent Seams’ K7 Commissioning Series in April and December 2023.

All live ensemble footage features Sage Henriksen (voice) and Lucas Helfman (acoustic bass) in addition to the composer.

One-sheet available here.

Tale of the Bloody River (Trinidad de la Agua Sangrieta)
